Pool thermometer

From gas

Gas heater → heat pump

Gas heats a pool quickly but costs a lot to run over a whole season. A heat pump takes warmth from the outside air, so it gives several units of heat for every unit of power it uses.

We remove the gas heater and connect the heat pump into your existing pool plumbing. If the gas line is no longer needed, we can arrange for it to be capped off.

Pool heat pump on site

From an old heat pump

Old heat pump → new heat pump

Any brand. If yours is noisy, slow, leaking or showing faults, it is often better value to replace it than to keep repairing it.

We size the new unit to your pool, which may differ from what was fitted before, and reuse the existing plumbing and power where we can.

Pool edge and ladder

From an electric element

Element heater → heat pump

An element turns one unit of power into one unit of heat. A heat pump uses the same power to move far more heat from the air, so the pool warms faster for less.

Pool from above

From solar

Solar → heat pump

Solar is lovely on a hot day, but it stops on cloudy days and fades in spring and autumn. A heat pump keeps the water at your chosen temperature from October to May.

How it works

Where the heat pump fits in

The new heat pump connects into the pipework after your pool pump and filter, so it uses the plumbing you already have.

How a swap works

From first call to warm water

Most swaps are done in a single day on site.

  1. Tell us about your pool

Use the pool sizer or send us your pool size and photos of the current setup.

  2. Get your price

We confirm the right model and send a price, with the unit and installation itemised.

  3. Swap day

We remove the old heater, place the new heat pump and connect it to your pool plumbing and power.

  4. Switch on

We commission it, set your temperature and show you how to use it. The pool starts warming that evening.

Questions

Good to know

How long does the pool take to warm up?

It depends on the size of the pool and the unit. The pool sizer shows an estimate for your pool. After the first heat-up, the heat pump only tops it up.

Do I need a pool cover?

You don't have to, but most heat leaves a pool through the surface. A cover on whenever nobody is swimming lets a smaller unit do the job and keeps running costs down.

Can you use my existing plumbing and power?

Usually, yes. We check the pipework, the spot for the unit and your power supply when we price the job.

Do the prices on the website include installation?

No. The price on each unit is the heat pump itself, including GST and delivery. Installation depends on your pool and site, so we price it for you.

Ready to swap?

Tell us about your pool and what heats it now. We'll come back with a price, supplied or installed.
